“The images in this selection were created as individual pictures with an original intention. During the editing process for a potential book project, I started finding combinations that spoke to each other, which
got my attention.
These pairs of photographs are chosen from an archive of personal work that spans several decades – from early student images captured in the 1970’s, to more recent work from 2025. Each diptych is selected intuitively, not as much for the individual merit of each image, but rather for the visual, graphic, symbolic or temporal connections they create when viewed together. This can lead to the birth of something fresh, where the resulting associations point beyond the confines of each image and tell a different truth.
As such there is no “successful” pairing, but rather a range of responses generated by our own feelings.
This deliberate curation hopefully enhances the photographs and opens up new avenues for how we experience and interpret them, encouraging curiosity and hopefully resonating with our personal truth.”
