Digitising Photographic Collections

Hosted at the FCTEC Scan Bureau in Paarden Eiland, this hands-on workshop introduces professional workflows for bringing analogue photography into the digital realm. Using a planetary/overhead line-sensor scanner (Zeutschel OS Q) for printed photographs, and an overhead field-sensor scanner (Zeutschel OS A) for slides and negatives, participants will explore best practices in handling, capture, and preparation for long-term access. The session also introduces equipment calibration and image quality management in line with international digitisation standards, including ISO 19264-1 (Levels A–C), FADGI (3–4 Star), and Metamorfoze (Light/Full), grounding practical demonstrations in real-world archival requirements.
